چکیده

Introduction There remains considerable diversity in the technical details of multifocal visual evoked cortical potential (mfVECP) recording. Filter bandwidth is one such variable. In recent studies, reference has been made to local optimisation of the filter bandwidths, but there has been no detailed discussion of their effect on the mfVECP waveforms. This ongoing study aims to formalise the impact of removing high and low frequency components from the raw EEG signal prior to cross-correlation.

Assessing the Effect of Opium Dependence on Visual Evoked Potential (VEP) in Men

Abstract Background: Opium-dependence having different effects on the nervous system is a common problem, especially in the Middle East and Iran. The aim of this study is evaluating the effects of opium-dependence on visual evoked potential (VEP) in men. Methods: Thirty subjects with both chronic cigarette smoking and opium-dependence (group 1) and 30 subjects with only chronic ciga...

The spatial distribution of selective attention assessed using the multifocal visual evoked potential

To determine the manner in which attention is distributed among numerous locations in the visual space, we used a multifocal recording technique that allowed simultaneous recordings of evoked cortical activity from 12 visual field areas out to 23.6 degrees. We found that multifocal visual evoked potential (mfVEP) amplitude was larger when a region of visual space was attended than when it was n...

Comparison of visual evoked potential changes in patients with alzheimer, vascular dementia and minimal cognitive Impairment with healthy people: a case-control study

Background: Alzheimer dementia as the most common cause of dementia is a chronic, progressive, irreversible and incurable disease. The second most common cause of dementia after Alzheimer is vascular dementia. One of the systems involved in dementia is the visuospatial system and visual evoked potential (VEP) can be one of the diagnostic methods for this disease. Therefore, the present study ai...
